WELCOME TO THE WEBSITE OF SUTTON VALENCE CHORAL SOCIETY
The Society was formed in 1991 and in recent years it
has grown to its present membership of eighty. We are an
enthusiastic group and hope that we provide a
stimulating environment for singers of all abilities to
develop their skills. We are keen to welcome new
members. There are no auditions--- All you need is a
love of singing.
The mission of the Society is to provide performances of
choral society repertoire at a high standard. Our
repertoire balances standard works with those that are
less well known. In the autumn we will be rehearsing
Kodaly's Missa Brevis and Rossini's Stabat Mater. Recent
programmes have included Bach's St. Matthew Passion,
Bernstein's Chichester Psalms, and John Rutter’s
Requiem. We have a summer concert of shorter choral
works, serious and light-hearted, and in the winter a
carol concert
at Harrietsham
which is always well received .
The Choral Society has strong links with Sutton Valence
School and Joe Davies, the Headmaster, is the Society’s
President. The Society rehearses regularly at the school
and some concerts are held on school premises.
Rehearsals take place in term time on Mondays at 7.45pm
in Grove Hall, The Music School, Sutton Valence School.
